Hunger

The news has been reporting about hunger in America and how 1 in 4 children don't know when their next meal will be and are hungry. Arkansas is among the highest in the nation for children and hunger insecurity. This just breaks my heart. I feel God has really been speaking to me about this issue because lately, 2 of the Bible studies I've been reading have covered this topic.

I look at Gabe and Abigail and see how blessed they are but at the same time, this could easily be them if circumstances changed or were different. Our family sponsors a 4 year old boy named Joseph through Food for the Hungry and I am grateful we have the resources to help.

Right now, I am asking the Lord who we can help and where we can help right here in the city we live in. Johnathan and I have both talked about taking Gabe to a soup kitchen and helping other families in need.

Would you pray with me and see where God leads us in fighting hunger?

Living Life

We have had a very busy weekend so here goes. First up, Friday night, the church we've been attending, Cross Church had FNO (family night out) so we took full advantage of it! We dropped the kids off and headed to Olive Garden with 4 other couples and had a great time. The girls sat at one end of the table and the guys at the other which was nice b/c we were able to get to know one another and share funny mom stories and other things!

After dinner, we picked the kids up, made a run to Krispy Kreme for some hot donuts and headed home to meet my parents who drove in for a visit. We were all so glad to see each other. Nana and Papa Chuck of course brought some goodies for the kids which they loved. After donuts and cookies we headed to bed. The next morning I got up and made breakfast and Johnathan headed out for his Saturday morning meeting. My parents and the kids ate and then watched a new Veggie Tales movie they got Gabe.

When Johnathan got home, we headed to Fayettville, walked the square farmers market and then ate at Hugo's. It was very busy there and we found out later this was move in weekend for some U of A students as well as other school activities. Hugo's has the best burgers I must say! After lunch, we picked up yummy cupcakes at Bliss Cupcake Shop (me and my moms favorite sweet treats) and headed home for naps. While the kids and men napped, we snuck way and did some shopping. I love spending time just me and mom! We talk, laugh, shop and talk more!

We then headed back home, picked up the kids and men and went to Walton's 5 and 10 store. We looked around the Bentonville Square and then went to Chick fil-a for dinner which is Gabe's favorite place to eat these days!

Sunday morning we took my parents to Cross Church and then lunch at Monte Ne Inn Chicken. The weekend went by way too fast and before we knew it , my parents were headed back home. We had a wonderful weekend with lots of fun and memories.

I found myself very sad last night I guess b/c the whole missing thing crept in again just like when we first moved. But, it's okay and thankfully we've met some great friends who are in the same position we're in, moving away from family so they have been a wonderful support!

We had a good day today. The kids and I went to a really neat park with some friends, the kids took good, long naps today which was so nice. We had a good dinner together and then I was able to get away and exercise for a while. We have more fun activities planned for the rest of the week. Will post some pictures later.

Have a good week everyone!

13 Months Old

"Abigail Grace, what in the world are you doing?". We have a very fearless, determined, strong-willed little girl on our hands to say the least! From the moment she wakes up until she finally gives in and goes to sleep, she is full of life and gets in to everything! She is a climber and is constantly looking for new ways/ and new places to climb and explore the world around her.

She is doing some new things which is always fun to watch. She is putting things in and then taking things out for example the clothes basket, blocks bin and her brother's drawers. She is blowing kisses, waving goodbye, pointing, showing mommy and daddy what she wants like getting in her new pink car. She still loves playing with her brother, rolling his cars and trucks on the floor and playing in his room more than her own. She still loves to eat and is a very good eater. She loves the water and it's definitely an adventure at the pool b/c she thinks she can swim and just dive right in.

She loves to talk and babble and right now she says Momma, Dadda, bu-bu for Gabe, Nana, bye-bye, mow for more, wee, oh and many others that we can't make out.

She is still on a pretty good schedule. She wakes at 7am on the dot, then wants her breakfast which consists of cheerios, bananas, apple sauce, toast, fruit loops, and she loves biscuits and donuts! She goes down for a nap around 9am and sleeps until 11am.  We usually eat lunch around noon and then she takes another nap around 1:30 or 2 in the afternoon.

Right now, our activities during the week include swimming at the pool and going to the gym.  Walmart has an awesome gym and the kids have a neat play area where they go while I work out. We love going to the pool and have met some really nice moms/kids there that we have befriended.

Abigail is so pretty in my opinion. her hair is starting to come in and is still a light brown color. She has deep blue eyes which are just gorgeous. She is a very tan baby and gets complemented for her great skin. She loves following me and her brother around the house. We have recently gotten bikes and Johnathan got a baby seat for his. Abigail just loves it and giggles when we are out riding. She does not like clothes or shoes and loves to be naked. She is getting really attached to her paci. We try to just give it to her when she sleeps but she is starting to want it more often.

She is just such a sweetheart and loves to snuggle with us when she's not busy exploring. We love her so and she has made our lives so fun and adventurous. Here are some pictures our friends Damon and Jessica Hair took for us.
